Xiaomi has launched Redmi Y2 smartphone in Dark Grey, Rose Gold, and Gold color variants. The main highlight of the Redmi Y2 is the integration of a 5.99-inch HD+ display coupled with MIUI 10. XIaomi has managed to rope in Katrina Kaif as the brand ambassador for the newly launched smartphone.

Display

The Redmi Y2 is equipped with a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440×720) Full Screen display with 450-nits brightness. The display bears a contrast ratio of 1000:1 with 269PPI. The handset provides support for night display, sunlight display, reading mode including color temperature adjustment. The display is designed to offer 70.8% NTSC color gamut.

Performance

The Redmi Y2 features a Snapdragon 625 processor, Adreno 506 graphics processor with the ability to extend the storage up to 256GB via VFAT. The 3GB RAM model offers 32GB storage, while the 4GB variant ships with 64GB internal storage. The chipset is manufactured using 14nm technology, which emits low heat.

Battery

The Redmi Y2 is powered by a 3000mAh battery with support for 5V 2A charging. You will be able to work for 3 days upon full charging. The smartphone will be integrated with MIUI 10. The Y2 will be the first smartphone in India to ship pre-loaded with MIUI 10.

Camera

The rear side features dual camera sensors comprising 12MP and 5MP sensors with AI technology. Moreover, the camera offers support for PDAF, AI portrait mode, HDR, panorama, face recognition including low light enhancements. You will be able to shoot HD and FHD videos at 30fps.

On the front, the Redmi Y2 offers a 16MP sensor with 79.8-degree wide-angle lens, LED Flash and support for Automatic HDR. Moreover, the sensor offers 4 in 1 Pixel binning technique coupled with 4500k soft-toned selfie light. The Bokeh effect is powered by AI alongside Beautify 4.0 technology.

Pricing

The 3G RAM model of the Redmi Y2 carries 32GB storage and is priced at Rs 9999. However, if you would like to experience speed, you need to shell out Rs 12999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model. The smartphone will be available for sale on Amazon and the official Mi store.
