If rumors are to be believed, you can expect the launch of Xiaomi Mi 7 smartphone in China on May 23. A poster surfaced on the Chinese social networking website Weibo, which states the launch date with a big 7 in an animated style. The poster is in Chinese language but we can easily decipher the launch date on May 23.
The Mi 7 was supposed to hit the retail shelves in Q1 2018 but the launch got delayed due to unknown issues. It is to be noted that Weibo is a credible site and you can believe the news of the upcoming launch. The teaser image shows the number 7 in burning style alongside Mi logo on the top right-hand side.
If you recall, Xiaomi launched Mi 6 in April 2017 and hence there is a possibility of Mi 7 launch in May. We don’t have any information about as to why the company delayed the launch. Under the hood, the Mi 7 will be equipped with a Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
According to rumors, the upcoming Mi 7 will also ship with support for 3D face-recognition technology with Ai capabilities. Like in the case of the iPhone X, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will offer a notch on the front side of the display, which will accommodate a front-facing camera and standard sensors.
If the Lei jun-owned company releases the handset with a notch, then it will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to ship a notch. We can also expect the addition of a notch on Redmi Note 6 expected to release in 2019. The rumor surrounding the notch assumes great significance with the leak of a screen protector rumored to be compatible with Mi 7 and it features a notch.
