LG is scheduled to push Android 8.0 Oreo update for the flagship LG G6 starting April 30 with significant features, improvements, and enhancements. In addition to LG G6, the Korea-based company will also push Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG V20 and LG G5 smartphones. However, we don’t have any confirmation as to when the update will be made available to these devices.
After the installation of the Android 8.0 Oreo update, the performance of your LG G6 in terms of battery and phone will considerably improve including speed, display, and graphics. Moreover, the update includes new features such as Picture in Picture, smart autofill, improved settings menu in addition to notification dots. The update also brings in high-resolution LDAC support and AI-centric capabilities.
On the specifications front, the LG G6 features a 5.7-inch QHD+ FullVision 18:9 IPS display, Snapdragon 821 processor, Adreno 530 graphics, 4GB RAM coupled with 32GB, 64GB and 128GB expandable storage capacities respectively. A powerful 3300mAh battery is capable of delivering over 3 days of standby time depending upon the conditions.
The rear side features a dual 13MP sensors with the capability to capture images with a 125-degree lens. On the front, you will find the presence of a 5MP sensor with a 100-degree lens.
The Android 8.0 Oreo update for LG G6 can be installed either via OTA or through the LG Bridge program. Before proceeding to install the battery, it is advisable to charge the handset up to 100 percent because the size of the update will be more than 2GB. You should also free up disk space and activater Wi-Fi instead of mobile data to avoid interruption.
